Green Foods Barley Cat Grass Pwd (3 oz)

Barley Cat is a barley grass supplement that promotes healthy skin and healthy coat with enzymes, vitamins C and E, B1, B2, B3, B6, protein, amino acids, and trace minerals that help eliminate bad breath, reduce arthritis inflammation, improve digestion, restore energy levels, boost immune function, repel fleas and ticks and provide antioxidant protection. Contrary to popular belief, a cat grazes on grass not because of an upset stomach or to help remove hairballs, but due to the fact it's looking for the same raw nutrition enjoyed by its healthy and strong ancestors in the wild (it's the sharp, microscopic barbs on grass that reportedly causes internal agitation and vomiting). Experts say cats (and dogs as well) instinctively eat grass to get the active, live nutrients needed by their system for optimum health and performance. Help your furry friend get what it needs naturally with Barley Cat, made from fresh barley grass - grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, poultry, liver, nutritional yeast, brown rice, taurine and garlic. Barley Cat isn't designed to stop your pet from grazing in all cases, but it will provide what attracts him or her to grass and potentially toxic houseplants in the first place.

4FOUR PAWS UP, AGAIN (2d purchase)  Oct 26, 2011
By Larry Deemer
I have no idea about the nutritional value of Barley Cat. Used as a supplement it yields 14 servings at about $.85 per serving at the manufacturers recommended dosage. I use it as a flavor enhancer to entice one of our cats to eat her Rx renal-failure food. Used at this rate (1/32 of a teaspoon) I get over 400 servings at about $.03 a pop. THE REALLY GOOD PART: She takes to Barley Cat readily and seems to prefer it sprinkled on top rather than mixed or disguised in the food. If Barley Cat brought her appetite completely back I would give it 5-stars or more. She now takes a couple offerings each meal to finish her plate rather than the three or four presentations it took [five, if you count the times she just would not show up] before we started using Barley Cat. We use a couple other flavor enhancers (amino-Bplex liquid, fruit flavored probiotic liquid, and freeze-dried cat food) but none seem to work as well as Barley Cat. For now. I am sure she will relapse again as her kidney function deteriorates more but I am pleased with the extra time it has given her to have a near normal appetite. I also tried Barley Cat on our other picky cat and two others with normal taste preferences and all of them readily accept the powder and seem to relish it. Maybe it deserves 5-stars anyway. Thanks, Barley Cat.

UPDATE: Take a look at my separate review of CAT-MAN-DOO BONITO SPRINKLES.

5Must have  Dec 03, 2009

I have 3 cats. One has always had trouble with looking run down and has gingivitis. This product keeps his breath sweet, gums healthy and his coat shiny.
I mix about 1/3 teaspoon with 3 to 4 tablespoons warm water and put in a shallow bowl. He begs for it every day - it also seems to help him feel good.
I can really see a difference in him if I'm out of it for awhile.

My cats seem to love this! I just shake it on their food and they eat it up.
